A cinematic environment study focusing on mood and atmospheric storytelling. This piece explores a quiet, dystopian moment in a flooded industrial infrastructure.
Design Goals:
Atmosphere & Mood: To create a palpable sense of isolation and melancholy using a cool, monochromatic color palette accented by industrial warning yellows.
Composition: Utilized the staircase railings as leading lines to draw the viewer’s eye down toward the submerged platform, emphasizing the depth and rising water level.
Environmental Storytelling: Conveying a narrative of abandonment through the water and the degradation of the metal structures.
Technical Details:
Material Definition: Focused heavily on roughness maps and specular values to differentiate between the slick, wet metal of the stairs and the rippling surface of the floodwater.
Lighting: Implemented low-key, volumetric lighting to simulate a heavy, humid atmosphere, relying on bounce light to illuminate the dark recesses of the ceiling.
Fluid Dynamics: Water is a subdivided plane with a 4D Voronoi Texture to displace the surface over time.
